ECHR ruling a victory for common sense and Cyprus
Greek Cypriots urged to set up parallel property commission to solve the Cyprus ...
The Cyprus situation can be summarised as a conflict between two peoples with different languages and religions, and their diverging visions for their one country.
The Greek Cypriots wish to see a State with ever-closer ties to Greece and which they dominate through majority rule, while the status of Turkish Cypriots is reduced to that of an ethnic minority.
The Turkish Cypriots, on the other hand, wish to live in a State where their human and political rights are given equal status to Greek Cypriots, and where they can live in peace and prosperity. This is something which has been denied to them for over 40 years.
